Since its lackluster release, DICE has attempted to add polish to the game, and one thing that DICE and EA have learned from the launch debacle is that they should listen to its player base. In one of the recent Battlefield 2042 updates, DICE updated the XP boost mechanic to only count in-game time. Meaning the timer does not count down when you are in the lobby or altering your loadout. This new feature has made Call of Duty players jealous and is something that has been requested by gamers for some time now, as the Double XP tokens in Modern Warfare 2 count time spent in the lobby waiting for a match to start. Players have been begging Infinity Ward to implement this feature over on the Modern Warfare 2 subreddit. Browsing through the comments on the post, it is clear that many players feel the same way. There are comments saying that it is a deliberate design choice on the part of Infinity Ward and Activision, speculating it is an “engagement mechanic” that will push players to play more to make the most out of XP tokens. Players wish that the XP boosts, which are frequently obtained from the Battle Pass, last a bit longer.
