The 48-year-old actor made his MCU debut in Taika Waititi’s Thor: Love and Thunder, where he depicted Gorr the God Butcher, a scarred wielder of the Necrosword who seeks the extinction of the gods. The film, which grossed over $760 million worldwide, was praised for its performances, particularly that of Christian Bale. Speaking to Ash Crossan of Entertainment Tonight while discussing his next film, The Pale Blue Eyes, Bale disclosed that a return to the MCU was still in the cards, saying: Although his character died at the end of the film, Bale wouldn’t be opposed to playing another role in the MCU. However, it is unlikely that Bale will be making a return as the Dark Knight following his interview with Comicbook.com, in which he stated: Even though this seems like a positive answer, Christopher Nolan’s vision for the Batman films was grounded in making a trilogy, which means that there is little to no chance of a sequel ever happening. For me, that would be a matter of Chris Nolan, if he ever decided to do it again and if he chose to come my way again, then yeah, I would consider it because that was always our pact between each other is we would just stick to it. We said we would only ever make three. And then I said to myself, and I’d only ever make it with Chris. Bale’s upcoming film, The Pale Blue Eye, will see him reunite with director Scott Cooper (he previously worked with him in the 2017 Western film, Hostiles) and star alongside Gillian Anderson, Toby Jones, Timothy Spall, and Robert Duvall. The thriller film follows a detective in 1830 in West Point, New York, who is investigating a series of murders with the assistance of a young Edgar Allan Poe. It is scheduled to be released in select theaters on December 23, 2022, ahead of its streaming release on Netflix on January 6. Speaking of Thor, Chris Hemsworth recently took a break from acting after discovering his predisposition to Alzheimer’s Disease. Hemsworth also shared that he’s willing to reprise his role in the MCU if he’s given a chance to close out and complete Thor’s story.
