Here’s what CDPR said in the official announcement: Cyberpunk 2077 threw a monkey wrench into CD Projekt RED’s plans. It’s taken the studio a huge chunk of the past two years to recover. Thankfully, with a dash of perseverance, a lot of luck, and a healthy dose of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally at a place where it’s well-deserving of a sequel. In recent months, Cyberpunk 2077 has topped the player count of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (again), sold more than 20 million copies, got official mod support, and a new DLC. In an ideal world, this all would’ve happened a year ago and we’d be looking forward to at least one more DLC for Cyberpunk 2077. But, perhaps, this is better than what we asked for. Now that CDPR has had a disastrous launch along with a pandemic to deal with, it can take the lessons it learned to heart and apply them for the future. Fingers crossed, we won’t have to wait until after the next The Witcher trilogy has come out to see the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. Speaking of, CDPR confirmed that it has started working on five new Witcher games, which include two spin-offs.
