Rocket League was delisted on Steam shortly after the Epic acquisition. Those who bought the game on Steam still receives updates, however, new players must get the game through the Epic Games Store. Mediatonic has announced that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will remain purchasable on Steam and will receive updates into the foreseeable future. It is safe to assume, however, that Fall Guys will also get the “Rocket League” treatment, and that while old players will still be able to enjoy the game on Steam, new players will need to use the Epic Games Store. Mediatonic has also announced that the acquisition “will accelerate our plans to improve the game and bring Fall Guys to as many players as possible, while continuing to support the community.” Mediatonic also hopes to introduce account systems, such as those used in Fortnite and Rocket League, as well as the cross-play and squad vs. squad modes. Rocket League went free-to-play after being acquired by Epic. As for Fall Guys, Mediatonic did not confirm nor deny the potential transition to a free-to-play model. The Nintendo Switch and Xbox ports of the game will not be affected by the deal. You can read the acquisition announcement on Mediatonic’s website. Along with Mediatonic, Epic will also acquire Fortitude Games and Irregular Corporation as part of the Tonic Games Group acquisition. Irregular Corporation is the developer of simulation games like PC Building Simulator and Good Company.
