After Activision released remastered versions of the first two Modern Warfare campaigns, we have heard talks concerning whether the third one is next. The publisher has previously denied that it’s in the works but leakers say otherwise. In fact, several insiders have stepped forward since last year claiming that Activision is just waiting for the perfect moment to release the unconfirmed remaster. Most recently, a reputable Call of Duty leaker, TheGhostofHope, claimed that the remaster of MW3 “isn’t canceled”, adding that the game is “complete & is just sitting there waiting for the right time to be released.” In an ideal world, the perfect timing is next year. If we believe the rumors that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will follow a franchise-first two-year cycle, it will need more content than every Call of Duty game before it. A remaster of the 2011 shooter is an excellent start for its second year if not later.

Activision is going to hold Call of Duty Next on the 15th. Most likely, the publisher will confirm by then if Modern Warfare II will receive two years’ worth of support such as a premium DLC as per the previous leaks or if we’re going to get a new Call of Duty game next year.
