The hype surrounding Outriders eventually died down as more players realized that People Can Fly wasn’t going to turn the looter-shooter into a Games as a Service title. To everyone’s surprise, though, People Can Fly just dropped a massive free update more than half a year after the game’s launch.

People Can Fly and Square Enix team up for latest Outriders broadcast

Broadcast #6 is a 20-minute long broadcast that covers all the upcoming changes coming to Outriders. People Can Fly made it clear that it knows how the community feels about Outriders and that it has put in a lot of work in recent months to make the game better. For example, the studio addressed issues such as the Timed Expeditions, as well as the game’s endgame content or the lack thereof. Here’s a quick summary of everything that People Can Fly and Square Enix discussed in the latest Outriders broadcast:

The New Horizon update is free and will release on November 16 Four Expeditions are coming to Outriders, each with their mini-stories The Molten Depths The City of Nomads The Marshal’s Complex The Wellspring Several changes to Expeditions No more timer. Players can now choose between three legendary items as a reward for completing Eye of the Storm. Tiago changes Players can now buy random Legendary items You can now re-roll Tiago’s elite offer pool New Transmog feature Player skills and gear buffs for all four Outriders classes A laundry list of bug fixes and balance changes applied to drop rates, armor sets, class trees, mods, skills, and general Quality-of-Life updates, among others. In an earlier article, we discussed the merits of Outriders going live-service. We still abide by our thoughts. People Can Fly is not obligated to release more content for Outriders. The game has been a much bigger success than expected and while it’s unfortunate that it had several issues along the way, People Can Fly can ride off into the sunset knowing that the game, for the most part, is good if not great. However, now that People Can Fly has confirmed the expansion they promised earlier this year, we can only hope that this isn’t some half-hearted effort and is genuinely good content that will help make Outriders an even better game.
