This time around they are back with the newly improved “#SellSnyderVersetoNetflix.” hashtag on social media. And Zack Snyder himself has taken note of the trending movement, liking one of the posts on Vero. This isn’t fans’ first attempt to bring Snyder’s vision for the DC Universe back to life. They managed to force Warner Bros. to release Snyder’s Directors Cut of the Justice League in 2021. Even if it was just a spectacularly obvious ploy to farm HBO subscriptions, the audience got what it wanted. The campaign that followed suit tried to reinstate Snyder back into DC with the goal of finishing out his original Justice League storyline. But things are different now, with James Gunn stepping into his position as creative director. The studio has a new direction separate from Snyder’s vision and it all began with the Snyder-hired Henry Cavill not returning as Superman.

Well, Netflix might be the new kid on the block in terms of production but they are the king of the hill in the streaming service sector. It would be a shame for such a big product to not offer Marvel/DC superhero-based franchises, even if that is not their intended target audience. Another reason is Zack Snyder already being on board. The producer currently has a lucrative deal in place with Netflix and is creating original content like Army of the Dead and the upcoming Rebel Moon. Netflix has also recently purchased one of the VFX studios that previously worked on Justice League, so they’ve already got some people on board.

Even before James Gunn and Peter Safran stepped in as Co-Chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, the studio had plans of canning Justice League. Also, there is probably no amount of money that will be worth the hassle of selling complicated movie rights to your biggest competitor. Never mind the fact that it would give them a competing DC Universe. And, even if they were willing to negotiate a deal, Warner Bros. and Netflix are not on good terms recently. After David Zaslav was appointed president and CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, the arrangement between the streaming giant and the studio has come to a halt. The deal which saw Netflix paying producers of shows provided by Warner Bros. over an 18-24 month period, was said to be unacceptable. This led to the second season of The Sandman being suspended on Netflix despite Warner delivering the material. Netflix and WBD might not be on good terms but you can still watch Zack Snyder’s creative collection, from Man of Steel to the Justice League, which are available for streaming on HBO Max.
