The closest Marvel game to a full release is Midnight Suns. Unfortunately, Firaxis Games has delayed it to early next year. Meanwhile, both Spider-Man 2 and Wolverine are at least a year away from hitting store shelves. Finally, there’s the untitled Marvel game by Sky Dance New Media, led by Amy Hennig, the creator of Uncharted and Soul Reaver. This is the one that the internet is most interested in, partly because of a recent leak. Co-host Mark Bernardin revealed during a Kevin Smith podcast that Skydance New Media is probably working on a Fantastic Four game. Technically, both refused to namedrop. But, it didn’t take long for someone to get the answer right, to which Smith replied by saying that someone had already gotten it correct. Specifically, the correct answer is that the first AAA title by Skydance New Media is based on an ensemble cast that doesn’t have a video game adaptation. Of course, Smith and Bernardin could have also been talking about the X-Men, Inhumans, and Thunderbolts. At the end of the day, it’s best to wait for September 9. Disney has confirmed it will hold a showcase dedicated to its upcoming video games. The main highlight is the much-hyped game by Skydance New Media. You can also expect to see more footage of Midnight Suns and Disney Dreamlight Valley. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is also appearing at the event following a highly successful debut, which suggests more DLC content is coming. In addition to this, the delayed Avatar game by Ubisoft, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, will be at the showcase. Finally, we might see EA’s long-rumored Iron Man and Black Panther games.
What’s odd is that the Disney and Marvel Games Showcase won’t show off a new Star Wars game outside of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but we’re hoping that this isn’t the case. Even if we don’t get to see Hennig’s Star Wars project, we’d definitely love to know more about Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Speaking of Fantastic Four, Marvel Studios has revealed the release date for the Fantastic Four film. According to Kevin Feige, Marvel is skipping the “origin story” of the titular team and will go straight for potentially cataclysmic events that will kick off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming Fantastic Four live-action adaptation currently does not have a director after Jon Watts dropped out earlier this year.
